West Wratting Park is a private sporting estate set in the Cambridgeshire countryside, not far from Cambridge. It is primarily known as a driven shooting estate, offering organised shooting days during the season, typically focused on pheasant and mixed game shooting.
The landscape is a blend of rolling farmland, hedgerows and woodland cover, which is managed specifically to create varied and sporting drives. The estate is designed to offer a traditional day’s shooting, usually run in a formal but relaxed format for visiting guns and hosted groups.
Built in the late 18th or early 19th century, West Wratting Park exemplifies Georgian country-house design, characterized by symmetrical facades, sash windows, and balanced proportions. The estate’s grounds were landscaped to complement the hall, with tree-lined drives and open parkland typical of English rural estates of the period.
It’s most easily reached by car via the A11 or A1307 from Cambridge, then local roads into the village (around 20–25 minutes from Cambridge city centre). From London, the drive is typically around 1.5 to 2 hours via the M11.
The nearest mainline station is Cambridge, which has direct trains from London Liverpool Street and King’s Cross. From there, it’s a short taxi journey.
Teams meet for breakfast at 9am, followed by four or five drives throughout the day, with refreshments after each drive. You can either stop for lunch or choose to shoot through. The family chef prepares all food, and a menu is sent in advance for selection.
There are a number of good pubs and hotels located close by.
