Rich in history and tradition, the shoot has been family-run for generations, flourishing during the Victorian and Edwardian eras as a renowned wild English grey partridge and hand-reared pheasant estate. The estate’s gently undulating landscape has been carefully managed to produce high-quality game. Mature woodlands and strategically placed cover create a variety of challenging and rewarding drives, ensuring every day in the field is both exciting and memorable.

My Mountgarret Shoot is made up of two driven pheasant and partridge shoots. Our parkland, farmland and woodland shooting at Mountgarret and Nidd cover 4,000 acres

The Mountgarret Shoot lies just north of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, easily reached by car, rail, or air.

By Car: 20 minutes from Harrogate, 45 minutes from Leeds, 25 minutes from York.

By Rail: Harrogate station is a short journey from the estate.

By Air: Leeds Bradford Airport (35 min) and Manchester Airport (1 hr 45 min).

Pheasant & Parridge

1st September - 1st February

Teams meet at the shoot lodge at 9am for breakfast. The day usually consists of four or five drives, with elevenses taken in the field. Some teams choose to stop for a shoot lunch early in the season with most shooting through in the later months.

Alternatively, some teams prefer a larger in-field elevenses rather than a sit-down shoot meal.

The day typically finishes at around 4pm.
