Castle Hill is one of Devon’s most renowned sporting estates, set within the dramatic landscape of Exmoor. Covering a large area of beautiful countryside, the shoot is famous for its challenging high pheasants, steep valleys, and spectacular scenery.
The estate provides a traditional driven shooting experience, with a variety of testing drives across woodland, valleys, and open Exmoor ground. Castle Hill House is a historic country house situated in the heart of the North Devon countryside near Filleigh. It is the ancestral home of the Fortescue family and has been the centre of the Castle Hill Estate for over 500 years.
Castle Hill Shoot is located near Filleigh, North Devon, close to South Molton and the edge of Exmoor.
From the M5, take J27 and follow the A361 towards Barnstaple/South Molton, then follow signs for Filleigh and Castle Hill.

Teams meet at Castle Hill House for breakfast and a briefing before heading out for the first drive. The day follows a traditional driven shooting format, with a selection of varied and challenging drives across the estate.
A field elevenses break is enjoyed during the morning, followed by further drives before returning to the house for lunch. The day concludes with afternoon tea and a chance to relax and reflect on the sport.


Team can stay in the Main house upon request. Alterntivily there are local pubs and hotels. Northcote Manor being the stand out.
